LAHORE, Oct 27: The ambassadors of Turkey and Morocco called on Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi here at his secretariat on Friday.
Talking to Turkish Ambassador Kamal Gur, the chief minister said relations between Islamabad and Istanbul stood on strong footings. Opportunities for more cooperation between the two countries in trade and culture would be created, Mr Elahi added.
He said the provincial government had evolved a `revolutionary’ strategy for education, health and other sectors. The provision of infrastructure in the province, he said, had accelerated the pace of foreign investment in Punjab. The private sector too had been given importance in the management of industrial estates in the province, he added.
Mr Gur said the existing cultural, historic and trade relations between the two countries would further be strengthened in future.
Talking to Moroccan Ambassador Muhammad Ridaul Fassi the chief minister said a proposal to declare Lahore and Fez sister cities was being considered. A delegation will soon visit Morocco to materialise the concept.
He said a lot had been done to promote Sufism in Punjab. Efforts would be made to propagate the message of Sufis in Morocco and Punjab, he added.
The chief minister told the envoy that a mega project had been initiated to restore the cultural and historical aspect of the Walled City of Lahore with the financial help provided by the World Bank. The project, after its completion, would highlight the cultural aspect of the city and promote tourism, he added.
