KHAIRPUR, Oct 23: Sindh People’s Party Parliamentarians president Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said he will move a resolution in the Sindh Assembly against forced ejection of workers of the Khairpur Mill and other people, from the colony quarters and harassing of residents through police by land mafia.

He was speaking at a protest meeting organised by the Mill Colony Action Committee here on Monday.

He alleged that the land mafia after illegally occupying state property in interior Khairpur district had started usurping land in the Khairpur city through forged documents.

The PPP leader condemned the revenue and excise department for allegedly helping land mafia by issuing forged documents to them.

He said the way residents of the colony living there for 30 to 40 years were forced to vacate the quarters was similar to how fishermen living on islands for past hundreds of years were forced to vacate the islands. But, he said, the PPP would not allow such illegality and injustice to take place.

Former district nazim Syed Nafisa Shah said the land mafia had also tried to occupy the mill colony land and other state property during her tenure but they had failed because they could not get fake documents.

She said since the inception of the present district government, land mafia had increased its activities and the state property was not secure anymore.
