ISLAMABAD, Oct 23: President of AJK People’s Muslim League Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry has said that he will continue efforts in support of the Kashmiris’ struggle for right to self-determination and for making Azad Kashmir a true base camp.
Talking to newsmen at his residence here on Monday before his departure to Mirpur, he said concerted efforts were needed to effectively highlight the just cause of the Kashmiri people.
“During my visit to the US, Canada and European countries after Eid, I will expose massive human rights violation being committed in occupied Kashmir,” he said.
“The innocent Kashmiris are being subjected to grave human rights violations in the occupied valley. More than 800,000 Indian troops are carrying out atrocities against innocent Kashmiris and have martyred more than 80,000 men, women and children,” he added.
Barrister Chaudhry, a former AJK prime minister, said that he would continue to unmask Indian atrocities at various international fora.
He, however, hoped that the Kashmir issue would soon be resolved as India and Pakistan had been engaged in a dialogue for the settlement of the longstanding issue.
“Kashmiris are the main party to the issue so they must be included in the dialogue process,” he demanded, adding that the issue must be resolved in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
He said the people of the quake-affected areas still needed basic facilities.
On the Mangla Dam upraising project, he said the reservations of locals should be given due importance.
He said he would launch a mass-contact campaign after Eid and make people aware of important political issues.—APP
