SAHIWAL, Oct 22: The district bar association in a meeting held here on Saturday unanimously passed no-confidence vote against sitting president Anwar Ali and secretary-general Muhammad Saleem Kodhan on corruption charges.

The meeting was presided over by Punjab Bar Council member Tahir Shabbir Chaudhry and DBA vice-president Rana Shakeel Javed while the bar’s executive members were also present.

The house unanimously passed a resolution to nominate Rana Shakeel Javed and DBA joint secretary Sajjad Saleem to respectively act as president and the secretary-general.

Earlier, a chargesheet was presented against the ousted president and the secretary-general in which allegations of corruption, misconduct, and inefficiency were levelled.

The resolution demanded submission of a report on corruption and misconduct to the Punjab bar chairman and anti-corruption committee, registration of a case and freezing of the DBA bank accounts.

GENERAL HOLDUP: On orders of the Multan DIG, the Sahiwal police during its general holdup on Saturday night arrested 18 proclaimed offenders, 17 court absconders, six army deserters and recovered illicit arms from nine people.
