The railway authorities arranged four special Eid trains; two of them had gone to the upcountry on Saturday. The remaining two, carrying passengers, to Lahore and Rawalpindi left the city on Sunday evening. Officials said that the railways expected income from Eid passengers was more than Rs70 million this year.
They said that an Eid special train derailed near Kalapul on Saturday when it was heading towards the Cantonment Station from the Marshalling Yard. As there was no passenger in it, no injury was reported. The train was put on tracks using heavy cranes. However, due to the derailment, three trains got late in the evening by 30 to 90 minutes.
