ISLAMABAD, Oct 21: The Engineering Development Board (EDB) will finalise recommendations for certification of electronic goods as part of requirement for international quality standards.
An official announcement here on Saturday said that the EDB had constituted a committee on certification, which concluded its deliberation and would finalise the proposals in near future.The report would contain the existing certification facilities available in the country, gap analysis and recommendations.
The representatives of the Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) briefed the meeting about the facility available with the council. However, the representatives of the industry expressed their reservations about the council and suggested increased interaction between the council and the industry.
The meeting was informed that the council would hold a five-day certification course in Lahore next month in which the representatives of the industry would be invited. It was observed that a lucrative export order from Sri Lanka was cancelled at the eleventh hours due to non-availability of necessary certification.
The meeting discussed the report suggesting the exact number of labs, requirements of human resource and activity list, added the announcement.
