PESHAWAR, Oct 19: The government has approved the proposed service structure for employees of the livestock, extension, department in the province and formed a committee to finalise it, sources say.

“According to the proposed service structure, at least 591 employees will move to higher grades,” said the sources. They said that to improve the department’s performance, all the posts from basic pay scale 6 to 18 would be upgraded.

They said the finance department had already approved the structure. To give a final shape to the structure, a committee led by livestock and agriculture secretary had been formed, which would furnish its recommendations in two months, an official said.

According to the proposed formula, 24 posts of BPS-17 of assistant director would be upgraded to BPS-18 and designated as district livestock officers. Another post upgraded as deputy director, headquarters.

The post in BPS-17 of wool analyst would be upgraded to BPS-18, whereas 24 posts of veterinary officer would be upgraded to BPS-18 as senior veterinary officers.\ The sources said that 248 posts of veterinary assistants in BPS-6 would be upgraded to BPS-9 and designated as senor veterinary assistants.

Another 248 posts of veterinary assistants would be designated as veterinary supervisors in BPS-11, they said.

They said five posts of female veterinary assistant would be upgraded to BPS-9 as senior female veterinary assistants. Another five posts of female veterinary assistant would be upgraded to BPS-11 as women veterinary supervisors.

They said 23 posts of research officers, supervisory, would be upgraded from BPS-17 to BPS-18.

They said six posts of laboratory assistant would be placed in BPS-9 as senior laboratory assistant, while another six would be placed in BPS-11 as laboratory supervisor.

The first meeting of the committee is scheduled for Nov 2.
