Trader pays Rs0.3m for release

GUJRANWALA, Oct 18: A trader, who was kidnapped by some armed men, secured his release after payment of ransom in Dhulley on Wednesday.

Reports said Khalil was on his way home from his show room when four men kidnapped him and later demanded Rs300,000 from the heirs. The family paid the ransom after which the kidnappers released him.

Meanwhile, police foiled a kidnap bid of a taxi driver and arrested two accused when they were fleeing after driving away with his vehicle in Alipur Chattha.

Reports said a woman, Naila, rented a cab for Bombanwala (Daska) from where she got boarded three male passengers on it.

The accused were fleeing after throwing driver Muhammad Irfan on road when the police chased them and arrested two accused who were later identified as Asghar and Ashfaq.

The woman dacoit and one of her accomplices escaped. Police have recovered the cab.

KIDNAPPED: An accused involved in a theft case was kidnapped by the complainant and his accomplices from district courts here on Wednesday. Reports said Abdul Jabbar of Naushera Sansi was booked by police in a buffalo theft case and was on bail. He went to the court where complainant Muzaffar Kaleem Mitho and his three men kidnapped him and took him to an outhouse in Khiali Shahpur.

The court ordered the police to recover him and register a case against the accused.

ARRESTED: DPO Mian Muhammad Asif got arrested CIA police constable Umer Hayat Butt in a kidnap for ransom case here on Wednesday.

Reports said the accused had kidnapped one Muhammad Asif and released him after receiving a ransom of Rs100,000 from his heirs. The DPO got arrested constables Umer Hayat and Nadim Butt following their involvement in the abduction case.
