KARACHI, Oct 13: The government is contemplating to set up its own call centres under the Information Technology Department.

This was stated by Sindh IT Adviser Noman Saigal while addressing the certificate distribution ceremony for first group of 38 persons who completed call centre training.

Mr Saigal said that negotiations were being held with national and international institutions for call centres setup and training. He said that the information technology could bring about a positive change in the life of common man.

The adviser pointed out that jobless graduates and undergraduate youngsters were being imparted training in accordance with the demand of the international market. He said that the collaboration of private sector had also been sought in this respect.

He pointed out that a sum of Rs35,000 was spent on the training of a call centre agent. He said that 1,000 young graduates and undergraduates would be imparted call centre training in the first phase.

Noman Saigol pointed out that the call centre training programme would help provide honourable employment opportunity to the jobless graduates. He said that most of the 38 people who had completed the call centre training had already received job offers.—APP
