SIALKOT, Oct 12: The district administration has failed to control the sale of DAP and urea at high price.

Farmers told newsmen here on Thursday that the dealers and stockists created artificial shortage of DAP to increase its price. They were selling a DAP bag at Rs1,170 instead of Rs665 in Sialkot and Narowal districts due to poor check of the local governments, the farmers claimed.

Meanwhile, farmers associations expressed grave concern over the price hike and urged the government to take serious notice of the situation.

ROAD: The social, business and political circles have expressed grave concern over the slow pace of construction of 37-kilometre-long Sialkot-Wazirabad Road.

They said the slow pace of construction was badly hampering the trade and business activities, besides, creating serious health hazards for the locals due to dust.

The Punjab government had released a special grant of Rs870 million for the dualisation of the road within a year.

Sambrial-based traders had protested against the inordinate delay in the completion of the project and urged the chief minister to direct the authorities concerned to speed up the pace of construction. — Correspondent
