PAC to probe fraud cases in 7 ministries

ISLAMABAD, Oct 12: National Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has taken serious notice of the financial irregularities pointed out by the auditor general in the accounts of foreign ministry, Pakistan embassies, defence production division.

The committee issued notices to the secretaries of the respective ministries to bring record with them in its meeting taking place on October 16 in order to furnish replies to the audit objections.

Assembly secretariat sources told Online Thursday that PAC would meet on October 16 under its chairman Malik Allah Yar Khan.

The PAC would investigate cases of fraud, misuse of powers and embezzlements highlighted in audit report for year 2000-2001 in accounts of foreign ministry, Pakistan embassies, Establishment Division, communication, petroleum and natural resources, housing and works and defence production division.

The secretaries of respective ministries have been issued notices to furnish replies to the audit objections raised by the auditor general in its audit reports. They have been directed to produce relevant record to audit during the PAC meeting from October 15-19.

The PAC has also asked the secretaries to bring with them reports on the decisions taken by the departmental accounts committees.—Online
