PESHAWAR, Oct 11: NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq has praised the dynamic role of volunteers in relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in the earthquake-hit areas of the NWFP and asked the youth to actively participate in the great mission.
He was speaking during a surprise visit to the camp office of the SRSP, an NGO under the P&D department. He also visited other quake-affected areas of Balakot.
The team leader Shah Alam and field engineer Amal Khan, while apprising the senior minister about welfare activities, said that the SRSP was working for improving the standard of life of the rural population in the NWFP as well as playing a special role in the quake-hit areas.
So far, 20,464 affected households have been registered for permanent relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction in Balakot.
They are being provided food items, shelters as well as compensation for construction of their houses.
Sirajul Haq lauded the role of SRSP and expressed the confidence that young volunteers would continue their mission till permanent rehabilitation of the affected people.—PPI
