PFPA's VOTERS LIST: The Sindh High Court directed the Director Trade Organisation (DTO), Ministry of Commerce to submit fresh list of Pakistan Film Producers Association's voters within one month.
The SHC's division bench comprising Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Ali Sain Dino Metlo was hearing the petition of Saeed Rizvi, chairman PFPA against the order of Director Trade Organization, Ministry of Commerce and deletion of names of some producers’ names from voters list.
The court, which already stayed elections of Pakistan Film Producers Association, in the meantime continued the interim order.
Petitioner’s counsels Rasheed A. Rizvi and Syed Haider Imam Rizvi contended names of petitioner along with all the members of Sindh (Karachi circle) have been excluded by secretary of the Pakistan Film Producers Association, Lahore circle.
They said this act was based on mala fide and in violation of fundamental rights of the petitioner and other producers of Sindh. They said in a rejoinder that producers who jointly produced films should be entitled for casting vote. The voter list was submitted by secretary PFPA Sami Dehlvi before the court.
The court declining to accept the list, directed DTO to submit fresh voter list within one month and adjourned the hearing for Nov 16, 2006.—APP/PPI
