MIRAMSHAH, Oct 2: Masked men snatched at gunpoint salaries of Khasadars amounting to Rs600,000 from a subedar near Miramshah, officials said on Monday.

They said Subedar Asal Khan was going from Miramshah to Mirali after drawing salaries of Khasadars from National Bank when the robbers stopped the vehicle at Karam Kot and snatched the amount.

The robbers fled in an unregistered vehicle.

MILITANTS’ OFFICE: Contrary to government’s claim, militants are still running their office in Miramshah, says a report from our Peshawar bureau. A spokesman for the Fata civil secretariat had claimed that the local Taliban had closed their office in line with the spirit of the peace agreement between the government and the militants.

Sources said the Taliban office was still operating and armed militants were present there round the clock.

The militants had also constituted a joint committee for the management of the office, which, according to them, would work to resolve public grievances and curb criminal activities in the area, the sources said.
