Narrow win for Pak Gymkhana

KARACHI, Oct 1: Spinners Anis Shaikh and Ariz Kamal claimed five wickets between them as Pak Gymkhana scored a narrow nine-run win over Pak PWD in the 21st Karachi Gymkhana-AKD Ramazan cricket tournament at the KG Ground on Sunday.

Leg-spinner Anis took three for 32 and Ariz two for 16 as Pak PWD were restricted to 161 for eight while chasing 171.

Akbar Rehman was Pak Gymkhana’s mainstay with a spanking 73 off 52 balls with 10 boundaries while Aamir Hanif struck five fours and one six in making a 35-ball 48.

In an earlier match M-Tex Sports thrashed Customs CC by 96 runs with slow left-armers Yasim Murtaza (3-13) and Imran Khalid (3-29) sharing bowling honours.

Opener Ashfaq Ahmed, however, stole the show with a blazing innings of 77. His 31-ball included as many as eight sixes and three fours while dominating a first-wicket stand of 97 with Wasim Naeem (31 off 19 balls).

Asif Hussain also batted to blast five sixes and three fours in a 38-ball 63 that helped M-Tex Sports pile up 222 for six.
