PESHAWAR, Sept 30: A large part of Peshawar plunged into darkness for 20 minutes before Iftar on Saturday after dusty wind, with light showers, hit the city.
Blowing at a velocity of 60kmph, the wind uprooted several trees and signboards which fell on the main electricity wires, causing disruption in supply to the Cantonment area, University Town and some other parts of the walled-city.
Five feeders of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) went out of order after tress fell down on the main supply wire, said Shaukat Afzal, a Pesco spokesman.
Faults had been detected in two feeders and the repair work was in progress, said the spokesman. No casualties were, however, reported from any part of the city.
