Ambulances for women project

BAHAWALPUR, Sept 26: The Punjab government will provide eight ambulances for women health project in the district by next month, it is learnt.

The ambulances will help to shift women and infants in emergency cases.

According to project director Dr Sabiha Khurshid the nursing schools of the eight districts - Bahawalpur, Multan, Bhakkar, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Jhelum, Gujranwala and Rajanpur - will also be given one ambulance each.

KILLED: Javed, a truck cleaner, was allegedly shot dead by bandits near Uch Sharif, about 70 kilometres from here, on Monday night.

It is learnt that highwaymen had blocked the road to rob the trucks. Javed put up resistance and the robbers opened fire on him. He succumbed to injuries on way to Ahmadpur East THQ.

Channigoth police registered the case against unidentified people.

Hockey academy: A hockey academy for youth will be set up at Dring Stadium here.

This was stated by former Olympian Samiullah Khan here on Tuesday.

He said the academy would launch talent hunt and train upcoming players in the area.

Earlier, Samiullah, who belongs to Bahawalpur, inspected the project of laying astroturf and the construction of hockey stadium at a cost of Rs100 million.
