LAHORE, Sept 23: Punjab IGP Ziaul Hasan Khan on Saturday said DPOs, SDPOs and SHOs concerned would be responsible for maintenance of law and order in their areas during Ramazan and strict action would be taken against the officers failed in fulfilling their duties.
A directive to the effect was issued on Saturday across the province, asking regional police officers, range DIGs and DPOs to devise comprehensive security plan to avert sabotage activities.
He directed that 24-hour police patrolling and security arrangements during prayers and `Taraveeh’ be ensured.
He ordered the DPOs concerned to pay surprise visits to sensitive places and police stations and monitor presence and performance of police officials.
He instructed the police to launch a crackdown on proclaimed offenders and religious terrorists.
Mr Khan said satisfactory arrangements should be made for security around banks, commercial markets, bus and parking stands and other public places.
The IGP also directed the traffic DIG for smooth traffic flow during the holy month.
