LANDI KOTAL, Sept 23: Cultivation of poppy will not be allowed in the Shalman area of Khyber Agency.

An assurance was given to the political administration by tribal maliks and councillors at a jirga held in the Loe Shalman on Saturday. Illegal checkpoint: Transporters and drivers have expressed concern over a checkpoint set up three days back on the main Peshawar-Torkham road by a tribal transporter, Zakir Sultankhel, to extort illegal ‘tax’ from vehicles.
