Robbers kill student

GUJRANWALA, Sept 22: A BA student was shot dead on resistance by two motorcyclists in a mobile snatching incident in Satellite Town here on Friday.

Salman, the son of customs superintendent Khalid Javed, was standing in front of his house when motorcyclists tried to snatch his cellphone. On offering resistance, they opened fire on him, killing him on the spot. The deceased was the grandson of late journalist Syed Jamil Hassan Mazloom.

Satellite Town police have registered a case.

Encroachments: An anti-encroachment squad demolished the illegal extensions to several shops and seized the effects during an operation in the city and Qila Deedar Singh on Friday.

Reports said Qila Deedar Singh Town Nazim Mian Tariq Mahmood and naib nazim Tariq Javed Butt gave a three-day deadline to the traders to remove the encroachments from markets failing which their goods would be seized.

Most of the shopkeepers, however, paid no heed to the warning and the town administration launched an operation.

KILLS WIFE: A man killed his wife over a domestic issue in Wazirabad on Friday.

Reports said Azra Bibi quarreled with her husband Muhammad Siddiq over house expenditure. Enraged over the issue, the man opened fire on Azra, killing her on the spot.

Wazirabad city police have registered a case.
