SIALKOT, Sept 19: The government has handed the building for setting up a medical college back to the Government Nursing Training School. Four years ago, the building was handed over to the Sialkot district government for setting up a medical college which shifted the nursing school to another building adjacent to the District Headquarters Hospital.
But, the health department handed it over to the management of nursing school, which has restarted classes there.
Governor Khalid Maqbool had laid the foundation of the college on Sept 14, 2002.
It is learnt that the Punjab government had shelved the medical college project due to some technical problems. It, however, took the plea that the former district government had politicised this project.
When contacted, Punjab Industries Minister Ajmal Cheema said the government would soon revive the project.
