SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 18: Scores of education department staffers, including women teachers, have protested against the misbehaviour of UC-63 nazim Habib Sultan Khokhar with the headmistress of a girls school.
Reports said the nazim together with his armed supporters forcibly entered the MC Government Girls High School, Akbar Bazaar. A peon intercepted them and told them that men were not allowed in girls school without permission by the headmistress. As a result of which the nazim got infuriated, allegedly manhandled him and entered headmistress Saeeda Akhtar’s office along with his armed men.
They misbehaved with her and her subordinates and threatened them with dire consequences.
Later, Saeeda Akhtar brought the incident into the notice of executive district officer (education) and other high-ups who informed DPO Aslam Tareen, demanding registration of a criminal case against the accused.
Meanwhile, different teachers organisations took out a rally and chanted slogans against the nazim.
They announced that teachers would observe strike on Sept 19 (today) across the district.
They urged the chief minister to suspend the nazim. On the other hand, people of his constituency have also demanded removal of Habib Sultan Khokhar as he has failed to redress their complaints.
When contacted, the nazim said he had visited the school for the admission of a girl and did not threaten the headmistress. However, he said hot words were exchanged from both sides when the headmistress declined to admit the girl.
