LAHORE, Sept 12: The National Workers Party on Tuesday criticised the army operation in Balochistan in which hundreds of innocent people were killed and many disappeared and property worth millions of rupees was destroyed.
The central committee of the party, which met here on Tuesday, said Nawab Akbar Bugti was forced to leave Dera Bugti. He was trapped in a cave and murdered. He was buried against the wishes of his family, which was against religious, moral and tribal traditions.
The government was still shamelessly claiming that it was not a target killing. This was condemnable in strongest possible terms. “This is fourth army operation in Balochistan and the integrity of the country is at stake, particularly under the present geo-political situation. The USA is bent upon destroying Pakistan, politically, economically and socially,” it said.
Gen Pervez Musharraf and his corps commanders have no role in politics and under the constitution could not make political decisions. The army should return to barracks and should immediately stop Balochistan operation, it added. —Staff Reporter
