Man shot dead by robbers

RAWALPINDI, Feb 12: A man was shot dead by robbers here on Tuesday, police said.

The victim, Walait Hussain, owner of a kerosene oil depot in Dhok Saidan, was busy with customers in the afternoon when four robbers raided his shop and demanded cash at gunpoint. On his refusal to hand over the money, Mr Hussain was shot dead by the robbers, a resident of the area said.

The culprits then broke open the safe, collected the cash and fled the scene.

The body was shifted to the DHQ hospital for an autopsy.

Meanwhile, three unidentified robbers raided a shop of cellular phone sets in Pirwadhi on Tuesday afternoon, looted the cash and some telephone sets and escaped.

VEHICLES STOLEN: Fayyaz Awan’s car was stolen from Chaklala Road, Inamul Haq’s (LH-495) from Saddar, Javed Hameed’s motorbike (IDH-9885) from Pirwadhi and Sabir Sultan’s motorbike from the Saddar Beruni police area, according to reports filed by the victims in the concerned police stations.
