Honour killings

GUJRANWALA, Sept 9: A man killed his nephew and his beloved over illicit relation in Garjakh on Saturday. Asif, a father of two children, developed relations with teenaged girl ‘S’ and they were missing from their houses for the last two weeks.

On Saturday, they went to the house of Muhammad Siddiq, the uncle of Asif, for taking protection. But, he denied to do so and exchanged hot words with him.

The accused attacked the couple with knives and later opened fire on them, killing them on the spot.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.

DEATH SENTENCE: A court handed down death sentence to Qasim Ali and life term to Tariq with Rs200,000 fine collectively in a murder case here on Saturday.

The court acquitted Ghulam Farid by giving him the benefit of the doubt.

According to prosecution, the convicts had killed Shakila Bibi over a domestic issue in Mandiala Tega.—Correspondent
