KARACHI: Plan to build model villages

KARACHI, Sept 8: Sindh Government has come out with an ambitious plan of developing “model villages” in various districts of Sindh where all basic amenities of life would be provided.

This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim while chairing a meeting of Village Improvement Programme at Chief Minister House here on Friday.

He said he would soon visit Thatta District in connection with the establishment of a Model Village there.

The present government, he said, is committed to development of rural and backward areas of the province along with cities and with provision of all basic facilities there.

He said in the setting up of a model village every care will be taken for provision of basic facilities, like water supply and drainage, electricity, gas, school, hospital and other amenities.

Among others, the meeting was attended by additional chief secretary (development) Ghulam Sarwar Khehro, secretary of finance Malik Israr, project director village improvement programme Shafiqur Rehman Paracha and Member (LU) Board of Revenue Khalid Mahmood Soomro.—PPI
