Guard killed on offering resistance

BAHAWALPUR, Sept 6: Dacoits killed a security guard and injured a beverage company owner on offering resistance on Tuesday night at Yazman, about 30km from here.

Reports said security guard Muhammad Haleem and Ali Raza Hasan resisted a dacoity bid on which the robbers opened fire, killing the former and injuring the latter.

Yazman police have registered a case and claimed to have rounded up two suspects.

Meanwhile, three incidents of theft were reported on Tuesday night in Kotwali police limits.

Reports said Muhammad Haris, Allah Ditta and another trader told the police that thieves took away cash and valuables worth thousands of rupees from their shops.

Police have registered the cases.

In another case, three motorcyclists deprived Muhammad Nasir of Bismillah colony of his bike at gunpoint on Wednesday. Civil lines police have registered a case.

ACCIDENT: A police volunteer, Azam, was killed and his pillion rider ASI Nasir Mahmood sustained serious injuries when a speeding tractor-trolley hit them on Wednesday at Ahmedpur East.
