HYDERABAD, Sept 5: The Sindh Employees Alliance has decided to hold a sit-in outside the chief minister’s house on September 17, in protest against government’s ban on teachers’ associations.
It said that a demonstration would be held outside the Karachi press club and later a procession would be taken from the club to the chief minister’s house.
The decision in this connection was taken at a meeting of office-bearers of the SEA held here on Tuesday.
Rafique Jarwar presided over the meeting.
In a statement issued here, alliance’s media coordinator Yaqoob Chandio said the meeting resolved to continue protest sit-in outside the chief minister’s house till the acceptance of demands.
The meeting pinpointed that teachers’ and employees’ associations had been banned but officials of the education department were holding meetings with pocket union.
The meeting condemned the registration of false cases against teachers and issuing of arrest warrants against leaders of the alliance.
MUET: Fulbright scholars from the University of Sindh, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, and Agriculture University held polls at a meeting at the Sindh University under the chairmanship of Dr. Mohammed Yar Khahawar, dean of the faculty of natural sciences.
Dr Abdul Karim Baloch (president), Dr Kazi Suleman Memon (vice-president), Dr Mohammed yuar Khuhawar (general secretary), Dr Mohammed Tahir Rajput (information secretary), Dr Bukhshal Khan Lashari (finance secretary), Dr Parveen Usmani(member) were elected on the executive committee.
