ISLAMABAD, Sept 4: A two-member bench of the Federal Service Tribunal (FST) comprising Rashid Mehmod Ansari and Jahanzeb Burki dismissed the appeal of former commercial superintendent, NLC Karachi, filed in 1999 seeking reinstatement.

The appellant had resigned from NLC in 1997 and his resignation was accepted on compassionate grounds. However, he later challenged the acceptance of his resignation by NLC on the ground that he had withdrawn it before it was accepted.

NLC was represented by Nadeem Hasan, who argued vehemently that the resignation was voluntary and not coerced, and was duly accepted under the law.
