KARACHI: Filing of rejoinder allowed

KARACHI, Sept 4: Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed of the Sindh High Court allowed the administrators of the Quaid-i-Azam’s estate to file a rejoinder to the archaeology director’s statement on the upkeep of the Quaid’s Museum at Flagstaff House.

Advocate Liaquat Merchant and other administrators had moved the court with the complaint that the Flagstaff House was acquired by the federal government for establishing a national museum to preserve the Quaid’s belongings and material relating to the Pakistan Movement. They said the Quaid’s effects were not being properly looked after and the museum suffered from lack of neglect.

The archaeology and museums director replied that the Flagstaff House was being properly used for the purpose it was acquired by the government. Government has recently spent Rs15 million on its renovation. It was open to the general public and had a large number of visitors on national occasions in particular.
