LAHORE, Sept 2: The DCOs of 11 districts in Punjab have been asked to remain vigilant to combat any emergency in view of the Saturday’s widespread rain which is expected to continue during the next three days.
The districts are: Lahore, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhelum, Chakwal and Rawalpindi.
A letter sent by Relief and Crisis Management Secretary Brig Syed Ghazanfar Ali (retired) to the DCOs on Saturday said under the influence of a new monsoon weather system, widespread rains were likely to fall in Punjab, Kashmir and adjoining areas during the next two to three days.
A heavy rainfall might take place over northeast Punjab, including Lahore. And in view of the situation constant vigilance was required to be kept to combat any emergency, he warned.
The DCOs were asked to take all necessary measures to meet any emergency. All departments and agencies concerned were ordered to make arrangements in this regard. —Staff Reporter
