SHEIKHUPURA, Aug 30: At least four people were killed and as many passersby sustained bullet injuries when members of a group opened fire on the rival party at Fathu Wala village, some 45km from here on Wednesday
Reports said groups led by Jalil alias Jeela and Ameer alias Bhutto, of Fathu Wala village in Sharqpur tehsil had an old rivalry over a piece of land, which already claimed several lives from both sides.
Ameer Ali alias Bhutto, Ashraf, Mushtaq along with their two other friends were on their way to Sharqpur by a car when Jamil alias Jeela, Munir alias Manoo and six others riding another car intercepted them.
The accused allegedly opened fire on them with automatic weapons, resulting in killing of Ameer Ali, Jamil, Ashraf and Mushtaq on the spot.
As many as four passersby, two of them identified as Ijaz and Ismail, sustained injuries and were removed to a hospital. The incident created panic and harassment in the area.
Sharqpur police are investigating.
Meanwhile, in another incident one Amir (15) was knocked down by an oil tanker near Javaid Nagar on Lahore road and died. The deceased was crossing the road. Factory area police are investigating.
