PESHAWAR: Old units of LRH to be rebuilt

PESHAWAR, Aug 29: The NWFP health minister has directed the authorities concerned to prepare a comprehensive, phase-wise plan for reconstruction of the old units of the Lady Reading Hospital (LHE) Peshawar so as to give the hospital a new look.

He was presiding over a high-level meeting at the Health Secretariat here on Tuesday. Those who attended the meeting included Secretary Health Abdus Samad Khan, Director General Health Services Dr Jalilur Rahman, Chief Executive LRH Prof Abdus Samad, Head of the Urology Unit of LRH Prof Taskeen Ahmad Khan, Chief Planning Officer Health Rahimzada Khan and Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Dr Humayun Zia.

The meeting discussed dilapidated condition of the various units of the hospital and decided to reconstruct them.

The minister said no the hospital was not paid any attention during the last 20 years. It was the present government that decided to reconstruct the hospital, he added.—PPI
