NAROWAL, Aug 27: Two minor brothers (twin) were killed and their two sisters injured in an explosion at the basic health unit (BHU) in Amwaal Khokhey, Zafarwal, Shakargarh tehsil, here on Sunday.

Akram’s four children — Kaleem, Rahman, Ghazala and Naila — were playing in the ground of the BHU when they found an explosive device in a trash heap. Considering it a toy, they started playing with it when it exploded. Kaleem and Rahman died on the spot while Ghazala and Naila sustained injuries.

The injured were taken to the Narowal DHQ Hospital in critical condition.

According to official sources, the personnel of secret and intelligence agencies have launched a search operation in this bordering area to find out any other explosive device or bomb to avert any untoward incident.

They said the explosive device could be a locally made landmine which was planted in the fields during the 2001-02 tension along the borders between Pakistani and Indian security forces.
