NEW DELHI, Aug 24: Indian MPs gave themselves a 50 per cent raise on Thursday, saying they would be eligible for another wage hike in five years. The jump from 8,000 rupees to 12,000 rupees a month may seem paltry, but lawmakers also enjoy free rail and air travel, telephones, secretarial staff, housing in New Delhi and other monetary allowances.—AFP
