Robber shot dead by accomplices

OKARA, Aug 24: A dacoit was killed by the firing of his accomplices here on Wednesday night at Musta Pirooka on Okara-Faisalabad Road. Reports said four dacoits entered the house of agriculturist Ahmad Yar and started collecting valuables at gunpoint. They opened fire when the family members offered resistance. As a result of which one of their accomplices was killed on the spot. They managed to escape leaving the dead body of the dacoit who was later identified as Muhammad Iqbal alias Bali Wattoo of Wann Hasooki, Tandlianwala.

Gogera police are investigating.

TENANTS: Anjuman-i-Mozareen Punjab (AMP) has vowed to continue its struggle for the rights of labourers.

Speaking on the eve of the 4th death anniversary of tenant Salman Patras, AMP leaders Younis Iqbal, David Zahid, Dr Christopher John, Ghani Javid, Aqeela Naz and others lauded the services of Mr Patras for the cause of labourers.

Mr Patras was allegedly killed four years back at village 10/4-L by law-enforcement agencies.

Human rights activist Hina Jilani was also present on the occasion.
