DERA GHAZI KHAN, Aug 15: A tent village and medical and veterinary camps established by various departments at Mauza Guja Bihar Sial in Dera Ghazi Khan were wound up after the departure of the chief minister.
A number of people were astonished to see the dramatic disappearance of the camps which had, in all probability, been set up to relieve the chief minister rather than the suffering people.
It is learnt that two patients were admitted to the relief camp until the presence of the chief minister and they too disappeared. Many people were bound to sit in the tents established by the revenue department till the end of the dignitary’s visit.
All the facilities and the people vanished hardly two hours after the entourage’s departure.
It is not out of place to mention that when a couple of months ago the people of Dera Ghazi Khan were in the throes of gastroenteritis which took 11 lives in the city, the people were quite optimistic about the chief minister’s visit to the affected areas but he did not make an appearance.
Keeping the last year’s tradition alive, the district government has failed to handle the relief work properly. Dislocated and in dire straits, the people have yet to get any sound relief package.
