KARACHI, Aug 9: The University of Karachi failed to deliver a good number of admit cards pertaining to BCom supplementary examination-2005 for external candidates even a day before commencement of examination, said sources on the campus.
About 10 days back, the examination section of the university had announced that the supplementary exams were going to begin on Aug 19 and admit cards would be issued from Aug 2 to 7. Departing from its previous practices, the university had announced that no admit card would be sent to candidates on their given address through postage or courier service and candidates were required to collect those in person from the Silver Jubilee Gate, said a source.
However, some of the candidates remained in dark till the time university staffers called them on Wednesday to inform that BCom examinations would commence on Aug 10 at 2.30pm, but they had not collected the admit cards as yet.
A caller told Dawn that she was caught surprised to learn that her brother’s exams was commencing on Aug 10, but he was unaware about the paper scheduled for the day.
A candidate pointed out that a university staffer called him and asked to collect the admit card on Thursday morning by producing the original registration card and fee receipt of supplementary examination and NIC.
A university staffer, Mahmood, said that he and his colleagues were calling those who failed to turn up so far for the admit cards. “We have already given news items in print and electronic media and students should have collected it,” he added saying that it will be not late even on Thursday morning as supplementary examinations will be conducted in the afternoon shift.
Replying to a question, he said that it was not correct to say that hundreds of cards were yet to be handed over to students. “There are only 40 to 50 cards left with us and we are giving calls to those whose numbers are available with us,” he said.
