LAHORE, Aug 8: Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mehmood Ahmad said on Tuesday no one should think of any adventurism against Pakistan because it was not weak. The Pakistan armed forces were in a strong position with regard to defence capability that nothing could be done against them as being done in Iraq and Lebanon.
The Lebanese prime minister was forced to cry before media because of weak defence capability of his country and no such thing would be allowed to happen with Pakistan, he said while talking to reporters after meeting Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool at the Governor’s House.
He said PAF’s air borne early warning system was the best in the world. The American congress had also allowed provision of the latest 44 F-16 aircrafts to the country. Pakistan would also get long range standing weapons along with the fighter planes, he said.
Replying to a question, he said living nations used to sacrifice their resources for keeping their armed forces combat ready in peacetime. This sacrifice was necessary and was aimed at ensuring capability to meet any external threat in future, he said.
Earlier, the air chief discussed with the governor issues pertaining to Pakistan’s defence strategy.
