LAHORE, Aug 7: Seven people from rival groups were arrested by police on Monday after they were found involved in a clash outside a Lahore High Court courtroom which resulted in a serious injury to one of them.

The LHC security apprehended the accused, and the police later charged them with offences under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The conflict, which involved fist fighting and kicking, took place after Justice Mohammad Akhtar Shabbir rejected the bail applications of accused Mohammad Ahmad and Allah Din from Dipalpur. As they came out of the courtroom, the rival party of Allah Ditta, the complainant against them in a criminal case, allegedly passed sarcastic remarks against them and this resulted in the fight.

The LHC security took custody of the two accused, the complainant and four other men of the rival groups — Amir Husain, Asif, Ali Ahmad and Riasat Ali. They were later handed over to the Old Anarkali police.
