LAHORE, Aug 7: Punjab Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja on Monday sought a working plan from the newly established wing of human rights at law and parliamentary affair department. In a departmental meeting, the minister asked the authorities concerned to take concrete steps to make the wing operational.
The wing will provide people another forum to take up their grievances, especially with regard to human rights.
The minister said the Punjab government was committed to the protection of human rights and it had introduced police reforms for the purpose.
Reporting rooms had been set up at urban police stations to provide a better environment to the people, he added.
He said citizen police liaison committees had also been constituted to bridge gap between the police and the public and build public confidence in the police department.
