LAHORE, Aug 7: The Punjab University has extended the date of registration for entrance test for admission to BA/BSc (Honours) classes from Aug 10 to Aug 15. The National Testing Service (NTS) will conduct the test. Tests for admission to all BSc engineering programmes being offered by the faculty of engineering and technology will be conducted by the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.

The university says some 10,000 candidates have obtained admission forms so far.

The NTS will also hold entrance test for admission to some postgraduate classes, while some university departments will independently hold their admission tests.

The NTS will hold entrance tests for the Institute of Communication Studies; the Institute of Administrative Sciences; the Institute of Business and Information Technology; departments of sociology, social work, political science, women studies, elementary education, secondary education, Islamic education, science education, technology education, business education, educational research and evaluation, English language teaching and linguistics, early childhood education, special education and faculty of law.

The PU constituent colleges, centres, institutes and departments which will hold entrance tests by themselves are the Hailey College of Banking and Finance, Oriental College, Punjab University College of Information Technology and College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Centre for High Energy Physics, Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre, Institute of Business Administration, Institute of Bio-Chemistry, Institute of Chemistry, and departments of English, French, history, archeology, philosophy, economics, library and information science, botany, zoology, microbiology and molecular genetics, applied psychology, mycology and plant pathology, sports sciences, physics, geography, mathematics, statistics and space science.

The PU says admission forms for the masters level admission test are available on the university website as well as in newspapers published alongside the admission notice (advertisement). It says the photocopy of such forms will be accepted.

The candidates are required to send the filled-in admission forms to the respective heads of the institutes, centres, colleges and departments through registered mail or any courier service. No institute, centre, college or department will receive any admission form except through the said mail.

The university is also setting up two control centres at Waheed Shaheed Hall, New Campus and syndicate room at Old Campus to sort out forms received through postal mail and distribute it to the departments concerned. It says this measure has been taken to supplement the post office facility and to ensure the in-time delivery of the form to the departments concerned.

Meanwhile, the university has also called the police to check some political activists who are trying to interrupt the smooth registration process at the NTS centre established in Kiran Plaza, Civic Centre, Model Town Extension.
