KARACHI, Aug 6: The label warning “keep out of children’s reach” is probably one of the most neglected alerts that consumers ought to see everyday.
But who cares if you don't read the fine prints in a box of detergent or a bottle of bleach? None of the authorities in Pakistan have ever launched any drive to create awareness among the citizens with regards to keeping children at distance from such poisonous things. A web report says the risk of children accidentally poisoning themselves is usually higher than adults.
Such cases are often reported wherein children have mistakenly swallowed or spilled hazardous chemicals on themselves. Many of such cases involved cleaning products, highlighting the importance of storing them and other household items out of the reach of children.
Experts warned parents not to allow children to experiment and play with household cleaners, or allow children nearby when cleaning bathroom or kitchen using concentrated cleaning products.
