PESHAWAR, Aug 5: Immigration authorities of the Federal Investigation Agency on Saturday arrested a passenger at Peshawar international airport on his arrival from Dubai on a forged green passport, said a senior official.

Immigration assistant director Inamullah Khan Gandapur said the passenger had come from Dubai by Air Blue flight No. ED-611 and presented his passport No. KF-608211 issued in the name of Mohammad Younas, a resident of Gujranwala, by Pakistan’s consulate in Dubai on April 1, 2006.

He said the man had also shown his old passport No. J-711234 issued in the same name in Gujranwala on Jan 1, 2001. But when the immigration staff asked him to show his national identity card, he failed to produce, he added.

During interrogation, the passenger had confessed that his name was Jehanzeb, a resident of the Hashtnagri area in Peshawar, and he had changed picture on the passport of Mohammad Younus. He had also admitted that he had paid a handsome amount to a human smuggler and travelled to Dubai on the forged passport from Islamabad international airport, the immigration official said.

He said the man had been sent to the FIA passport circle where officers had started interrogating him after registering a case.
