VVIP convoy causes traffic jams

LAHORE, Aug 4: A convoy carrying some big shot of the Punjab government, en route Lahore canal, caused traffic jams for around half an hour on various link roads on Friday evening.

Not only the canal, but the roads linking to it also had long queues, resulting in squabbles among motorists, and at least one brawl between a car driver and a traffic policeman.

Shortly after the convey took a turn towards the chief minister’s house on FC College bridge, the people lost patience and ignored traffic policemen’s directions. Everybody’s attempt to pass through the bridge hurriedly resulted in a traffic jam.

The traffic on Jail Road again turned into a mess when a traffic policeman, after an argument, parked his motorcycle in front of a car. The argument later turned into a brawl. All the traffic coming from the canal and Services Hospital side on the Jail Road was affected as a result.

The traffic policeman did not listen to anybody, nor did he take his motorcycle away from the road. “I know my job better,” he replied when someone suggested him to clear the road so that the traffic flow could be made smooth.
