HYDERABAD, Aug 3: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has said that 18 development schemes under the Hyderabad Development Package have been taken in hand which will be completed in one year.

He was speaking at a meeting at the Shahbaz Hall here on Thursday.

The meeting reviewed progress of development schemes being carried out at a cost of Rs3026.243 million.

He said that an amount of Rs695.419 million had been released in the 2005-06 year for implementation of development schemes which was utilised in the same year.

He said that the district government was giving a top priority to water supply and drainage schemes.

As a result, seven water supply schemes were completed in a short period and standby generators were purchased for 12 pumping stations to ensure regular water supply and drain out sewerage.

He called upon officials concerned and consultant to ensure completion of filter plants at Hala Naka and Paretabad and the construction of storage ponds during the current financial year.

He said that the laying of water pipelines and other water works should also be completed within the current financial year.

He said that it was necessary to carry out soil testing before laying sewerage lines. He stressed the need for coordination between all departments concerned for the completion of all development schemes in time.

He directed all the contractors working on the development schemes under the Hyderabad Development Package to ensure the availability of machinery and manpower at sites to avoid delay.
