LAKKI MARWAT, Aug 3: Bandits looted passengers of a Multan-bound bus on the Indus Highway on early Thursday morning.

Passengers of the bus (PRK-9678) said that at least five armed bandits disguised as passengers forced the driver of the bus coming from Peshawar to drive towards the Shamoni Khattak Link Road near a village lying between the Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts.

They said that the armed men forced the driver to take the bus to a deserted area where they deprived its occupants of cash, mobile phones and other valuables. They said that most of the passengers were students of the Hazrat Bahauddin Zakaria University, Multan. A police mobile team reached the spot and opened fire on the dacoits who retaliated. The latter managed to escape.—Correspondent
