MIANWALI, Aug 1: It took police two days to decide jurisdiction to register a highway robbery case. Reports said passengers of a Rawalpindi-bound bus were looted by four gunmen near Harnoli Morr on the Mianwali-Multan (MM) Road, 25km from here, on Sunday.

The outlaws who were on board whipped out their pistols. One of them took control of the wheel while others deprived passengers of their belongings like watches, money, mobile phones, ornaments. Near Tibbi Morr, they halted the bus and disappeared in nearby woods.

Passengers soon found a patrol vehicle of the Sader police station but policemen refused to help them because place of occurrence was out of their jurisdiction.

Ghulam Mstafa Khan, a teacher of the PAF College and one of the victims, said he had contacted the police stations of Harnoli and Kundian but none was ready to register the case on the jurisdiction plea.

DPO Kiyani who was unaware of the robbery finally decided that the Harnoli police would registered the case.

Highway robberies are on the increase in this district despite highway patrolling by police.
