KHAIRPUR, Aug 1: A woman was killed by her husband in Mari village in the jurisdiction of Faiz Ganj police station on Monday night. Budhal Shaikh alleged to have forced his wife Dadli Shaikh, 28, to drink pesticide.
The Faiz Ganj police took the body to Faiz Ganj hospital but post-mortem could not be conducted till Tuesday morning due to non-availability of a lady doctor.
The Faiz Ganj police arrested the accused.
Budhal Shaikh told reporters at the Pakka Chang police station that he had not killed his wife. He said that she wanted to go to her parents but he did not permit.
As a result, she committed suicide by taking pesticide.
He said that murder allegation against him was false.
The uncle of the deceased woman, Jan Mohammad, said that Dadli was forced to drink pesticides as her husband suspected her kari.
PROTEST: Activists of the Shia Rabita Council and the Imamia Students Federation jointly staged a procession on Sunday to protest against relentless Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
The procession started from Anjuman-e-Hyderi, Nau Goth, and reached the Panj Gulla Chowk after passing through main roads of the city.
Protesters were raising slogans against the US and Israel and condemning the attacks.
They also burnt effigies of US President George Bush and the Israeli premier.
