PESHAWAR, Aug 1: NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah Khan has said arrangements for the establishment of Khyber Medical University have been completed and a bill will be tabled in the coming session of the provincial assembly to seek a formal approval.
The minister said this here on Tuesday while presiding over a high-level meeting to review progress as regards the establishment of the first public-sector medical university in the province.
The meeting was attended by Principal Khyber Medical College Prof Dr Fazal Ahmed, Head of the college’s Child Health Department Prof Dr Abdul Hameed, President of college’s Teachers Association Prof Zahid Hussain Khalil, Health Department’s Chief Planning Officer Rahimzada and Deputy Secretary Abdul Wahab.
The meeting was informed that all queries of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) about the charter of the university had been responded to. It was further informed that amendments to the proposed bill of the university had also been given a final shape.
Rahimzada said Rs50 million had been set aside for the construction of university’s building. Of the total allocated amount, Rs6 million had been released from the ADP, he added.
